For Scene V, we acted it out and made a video. And for Scene VI, we made GIFs from an actual production of Macbeth and then took pictures of the "flashbacks."

  1. I think you guys' interpretations of Scenes V and VI overall were awesome! I like how you used a different technique for each of the scenes rather than just filming both; it not only demonstrates you guys’ efforts and inventiveness but also, I think it highlights the message that Ms. B has been emphasizing, which is that there are zillions and zillions of ways to interpret Macbeth, and Shakespeare inclusively.

The video of Scene V is eerie, dark and haunting, as is appropriate with all Scenes featuring our creepy sisters. The video’s décor, like the dimmed lights and crackling fireplace, further enhanced the creepy, supernatural atmosphere and reminded me of the light/darkness imagery recurring throughout the play.

And then the GIFS you created for Scene VI contributed a comical element to your project. The picture’s and quotations you utilized synopsized the major events of the Scene while also making me laugh. It’s amusing to see Shakespearean characters as animated cartoons on photo-shop; and it’s obviously funny to see all you guys with beards and unibrows :) Good job!

  2. Besides the fact that the coding is amazing, as well as the the 'special effects' (bad quality) of the video, this production was very well put together.

The first page we're directed to is in and of itself a masterpiece; the font is eerie yet elegant, with fanciful scripture-like curves and a red foreshadow alluding to the theme of blood. English-styled font for the scene page selection really reflects the time period, and adds to the set-up of the medieval era, fitted with kings and thanes. Hecate and the witches are often depicted as robed figured, and they were well characterized by the evil cackles and whispers exchanged between the four. Also, the placement of the witches, with Hecate standing forefront and the three others at her feet was symbolic of Hecate's power and authority over the three.

The contrast between the taped scene and the animated scene shows the advancement in technology of our own age, adding a modern spin to the work as a whole. I like that you incorporated not only scenes from the actual acting, but also stills and animations from your own making. The last image adds a humorous edge to the work, which Shakespeare often does in his own writings (the Porter). Although, the caption of 'rightful throne' is questionable--does he really deserve it? He committed treason and murder, and though he did plan it out in order to take the throne, it was not morally or justfully done.

Overall, the amount of effort it looks as though you put in to your product is spectacular. The little details in which you added (the makeup, backgrounds, etc.) really contributed to the overall success. I agree with Rachel, you did a really good job!
